Summary: What if Peter Carlisle's mum hadn't died from an overdose? This is an alternate take on the world presented in "The Way of Things"
Authors Notes: This story marks the end of Professor Peter/Heiress Rose month; however, a funny thing happened when I started really working on it last week. This short little story, which was really only supposed to be about eight pages, just kind of...ballooned. Without even thinking about it, I actually wrote darn near to twenty pages on it last Tuesday (after the trauma of losing eight pages of it on Monday), and then I wrote another five pages on Friday. So, yeah—not so short, and it means that the Profess/Heiress month will bleed a bit into January. I know several of you were keen to see a return to our beloved DI, so I do apologize for the delay in that.

However, one this story is done—so, starting January 12—it’ll be back to the adventures of DI Carlisle, Field Agent Tyler, and the DI’s McCoy.

A quick personal note: congratulations to EGT for her wins over at the Children of Time awards, and thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for me over there, too!
